About Olamina Botanicals
Olamina Botanicals is a Munsee Lenape territory Brooklyn, New York-based bioregional apothecary. We handcraft our formulas in-house with potent medicinal plants cultivated using regenerative, more-than-organic practices that nurture the soil.
Our founder Jess Turner grows and forages many of the herbs in our blends on her plot in Hudson, NY—sourcing additional material directly from small herb farms in the United States. We do not work with multinational agriculture conglomerates or herb brokers. Our commitment to using the freshest botanicals—traceable from seed to flower—is reflected in the aroma, taste and vibrance of our formulas.
Our mission is to help people unlock their innate power as healers, draw strength from the plant world and act on behalf of the planet. Guided by principles of ecological restoration, we curate our blends with what is abundant and in season.
Raised working class by proud Union shop stewards along a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, Jess Turner’s love of the plant world began in her youth. Returning to the land in earnest after years of political organizing brought her health to a breaking point, she discovered the radical ideals guiding her work as an economic justice organizer exemplified in the horizontal, mutualist relations that exist in more-than-human nature.
Sharing the power of the medicinal plants overlooked as mere weeds and aiding frontline communities in building self-determination through the land are Jess’s top priorities as a practitioner. A Master Naturalist (Cornell University) and Auricular Detox Specialist (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association), she is honored to have arrived at a place where she can be of service.
